Course discription
The goal of this preparation course is for students to acquire basic knowledge and skills in written and oral Production and Comprehension at the A1 level. This knowledge will facilitate the integration of Erasmus students, helping them socialize and feel like equal members of both the University community and their host city. To meet the specific needs of this student group, we propose the textbook Ελληνικά Α’ Επίπεδα Α1 και Α2 (Patakis Publishers) as our primary teaching manual. The objective is to teach vocabulary relevant to the students' needs; therefore, the order of the units as presented in the book will not be strictly followed. The grammar chapters taught are specific and designed to help this particular group produce structured written and spoken language (e.g., genders, the accusative case, numerical adjectives).
By the end of the course, students should be able to talk about themselves and master vocabulary related to daily life (shopping, daily routine, free time). They should also be able to compose a short text in the form of a diary entry or an email (e.g., describing their daily routine, shopping needs, or a person). A recommended best practice is to make the class interactive by utilizing technological applications for knowledge acquisition (e.g., games and quizzes on apps like Kahoot and Wordwall). At the end of certain sessions, the class may also listen to a Greek song or read Greek poetry.
