Museum Studies / Museology degrees teach students about museums, their activities, history, and their role in human sciences. Museology courses focus on different aspects related to museums, like curating, preservation, and education. Museology students learn how to manage a museum, attract audiences, and keep museums fun for audiences af all ages.
The primary aim of the course is to introduce students to museum studies and help them improve their English language skills by learning basic issues that concern museums' function. Students are taught basic issues on museums, Museology theory and practice.
This second part of topics on museums concerns: collection storage principles, remedial conservation, insurance issues, and collections' security: physical and electronic. Students expand their knowledge on museums and their buildings, museums and their physical setting, planning for access, working with architects, museums' management and maintenance, security and sustainability. Legal status, governance and management stuctures, partnerships between museums, networking, museums' performance, evaluating the museum's success, project and financial management. Museums' sources of income, fundraising, internal communications, museums' service, staff training and professional development. Information technology and supporting resources.
The provided training material is suitable for pre-service and in-service students who wish to gain a full understanding of working in a museum.
