Museum Studies / Museology  degrees teach students about museums, their activities, history, and their role in human sciences.  Museology courses focus on different aspects related to museums, like curating, preservation, and education.

Museology students learn how to manage a museum, attract audiences, and keep museums fun for audiences of all ages. 

The primary aim of the course is to introduce students to museum studies and help them improve their English language skills.

Students are taught basic issues on museums, museology theory, new museology and practice. They expand their knowledge on types of museums, museums and society, museum practice, funding and management, conservation, collecting and collections, museums' identity and difference, museums and social inclusion, audience research, visitors' access to museums, museums and education, heritage studies and cultural issues, and the challenges of museum work in the 21st century.

The provided  training material is suitable for pre-service and in-service students who wish to gain a full understanding of working in a museum.

  • Museum Basics

    Over the last six years many changes have taken place in museums around the world.  Many museums worldwide operate with few professional staff and limited resourses.  In this course - drawing from a wide range of practical experience - almost all aspects of museum work are discussed:

    Audience development and learning,

    collections management and conservation,

    museum management and forward planning.

    Students learn:

    Museum management,

    pre-service and in-service museum training programmes, 

    various case studies,

    project work and group division.

    The course includes various subjects such as:

    types of museums,

    the museum and its users,

    learning inside the museum and beyond the musem,

    museum websites,

    social media and museums,

    presenting and interpreting collections,

    presentation techniques,

    planning new displays and exhibitions,

    collecting and collections,

    managing and caring for collections,

    the museum and its buildings, 

    museum management,  

    staff training and professional development and

    many other significant issues concerning the contemporary museum.
