(MEDEN117) - Eleni Georgoudaki, George Kagadis
Περιγραφή Μαθήματος
This course aims to provide students with a solid foundation in Modern Greek at A1 level, focusing on the development of essential language skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
The course is designed to meet the specific needs of beginner learners, with flexibility to adapt content according to students’ profiles and learning goals. The main textbook used is Ellinika A (Levels A1–A2), published by Patakis.
Emphasis is placed on building practical vocabulary and core grammatical structures that enable students to communicate effectively in everyday situations. Key grammatical topics include, among others, grammatical gender, the accusative case, and numeral adjectives, selected to support the production of structured spoken and written language.
By the end of the course, students are expected to:
- Introduce themselves and interact in simple everyday contexts,
- use vocabulary related to family, studies, daily routines, and leisure activities,
- produce short written texts such as emails or diary entries, and
- understand basic spoken and written Greek.
Teaching methods promote an interactive and engaging learning environment, incorporating digital tools such as Kahoot and Wordwall to support practice through games and quizzes. Cultural exposure is also integrated into the course through activities such as listening to Greek songs and reading selected poetry.
