This course is part of the open online course "OpEn: Open-up entrepreneurship" or "A learning walk in digital entrepreneurship".

It aims at developing the digital comptetences of young entrepreneurs, focusing on open tools, content and data.

The course focus on digital entrepreneurship through real business cases and presents how digital technologies can be used in marketing and sales.

  • Course Syllabus

    This course is part of the open online course "OpEn: Open-up entrepreneurship" or "A learning walk in digital entrepreneurship".

    It aims at developing the digital comptetences of young entrepreneurs, focusing on open tools, content and data.

    If you want to understand how young people could adopt digital technologies to create and run today?s enterprises, join this course!

    The course consists of two units:

    • Unit 1- Understanding Digital Technology Fundamentals, which aims at providing you with a comprehensive overview of the key digital technologies by introducing some general aspects related to Web technologiesContent Management Systems, and Agile methods for software development.
    • Unit 2- Using Digital Technologies for Sales and Marketing, which discusses digital entrepreneurship through real business cases and presents how digital technologies can be used in marketing and sales

    Course Objectives/Goals

    At the end of this course young, existing or prospective entrepreneurs, will be able to:

    • Understand the fundamentals elements of the Web and its architecture
    • Understand the main concepts of Content Management Systems and apply tools for managing content on the Web
    • Understand the agile methodology for software development and participate to Scrum-based agile processes
    • Understand what is digital entrepreneurship
    • Recognize how to exploit digital technologies in order to build and operate a micro-firm
    • Use open and low-cost digital tools in simple business tasks
    • Adopt digital technologies for sales and marketing purposes

    Target Group

    Young -existing or prospective- entrepreneurs, University Alumni.

    Prerequisites/Prior Knowledge

    Basic computer and Internet use skills. Skills for the installation of simple software tools.

    Instructional Methods

    A combination of entrepreneurial storytelling, brief lectures and demonstrations of open-tools in every-day business will be employed.

    Assessment Methods

    A combination of quizzes and reflective exercises, involving online blog and forum contributions and discussions for peer assessment.
