Course Title: English Language
Prerequisite:
An intermediate (FCE) level of the English language will help you to successfully attend and receive a good passing grade for the course. Students holding a certificate of Proficiency in the English language can receive a passing grade for the course but I encourage them to attend classes and take the final exam in order to acquire a better grade.
Objectives and content:
The aim of this course is to familiarize students with the English language used in the field of Computer Engineering and Informatics. The course covers the Basics of Science and topics such as what is ICT, ICT systems, the history of ICT, Software development, Efficiency in computer systems and Human- Computer interaction. Particular emphasis is given to technical terms and academic language.
Students are advised to attend classes and encouraged to participate in classroom activities.
At the end of the course, students should be able to comprehend computer engineering-related texts and determine the meaning of technical and academic vocabulary in context.

Assessment:
The final grade is based on the final exam consisting of different types of questions such as: true/false statements, multiple-choice questions, cloze passages, term definitions, text comprehension, and vocabulary questions.
Regular attendance and active participation are taken positively into consideration.
